Moving from WordPress

Bring your WordPress site with you.

Upload the export file WordPress gives you. Your pages, posts, menu and photos arrive as drafts, and you decide when they go live.

Three steps

1

Export from WordPress

In WordPress, open Tools, then Export, and choose all content. Download the XML file.

2

Upload it here

Upload the file on the import screen. Before anything is written, you see what was found and how much storage the photos need.

3

Check the drafts

Pick your home page and run the import. Read the report, fix what it flags, then publish everything in one click.

What comes over

Pages and menu

Pages keep their hierarchy, titles, addresses and search descriptions. Your main menu sets the order of the navigation.

Posts and tags

Posts keep their dates and featured images. Categories and tags become blog tags, and scheduled posts keep their schedule. The blog is part of Coffee and up.

Photos

Images are fetched from your old site. If it is offline already, upload a zip of your wp-content/uploads folder and the files are matched by path.

Old links

The import adds redirects from your old permalinks, ?p= and ?page_id= links, attachment pages, categories, tags and /feed to the new addresses. A redirect to a draft returns a 404 until you publish its target. Review them on the redirects screen.

What to check afterwards

The import report lists every block it could not convert, every shortcode it removed and every image it could not find. Plugins, comments, users, forms and the design of your old theme stay behind.

Leaving works the same way

Export your pages, posts, galleries and photos as a WordPress import file whenever you want, on every plan including Free. Galleries you made for clients are left out of the export.

Import and export are on every plan. The only limit is storage: if your photos do not fit your plan, you see it before the import starts.
